Kratom Kills

The purpose of this web site is to cut through all of the misinformation on Kratom and the lobbyist claims that it is basically a “wonder supplement” and to provide information on the addictive properties and deaths caused by Kratom.

Our oldest son Dan died from Kratom on August 29, 2021 (See “about us“). I want to help save lives and provide a more transparent view on the real potential dangers of this completely unregulated product. My original goal when setting up this website was to work to have Kratom completely banned.  I have since realized that prohibition has never worked. I have also met many people who use Kratom and claim to get relief from it for a variety of issues from PTSD to anxiety and pain and many more.  I also now believe that key to making Kratom safe is to have it severely regulated sate by state and hopefully eventually Nationally.  I am now a Kratom regulations advocate

This site includes information directly from many government, and respected sources as well as the ever-growing number of articles that are bringing light to the dangers, addictive properties and deaths linked directly to Kratom use.  We will also be sharing personal stories of overdoses, addiction and death.  I will also be adding some stories of people.

I am actively working to push for strong regulations in my home of New Hampshire and other states.  I have recently testified for a regulation bill in California in front of the state health committee.  I passed through the committee 10-0 but has since been sidelined but we hope to get it moving again and are actively working towards that goal.

Additionally, I recently lead a protest in Kansas City against American Shaman, a company that is now manufacturing a product called 7OH.  In many cases this is being labeled and wholesaled to other companies who are selling it as Kratom.  It is not Kratom.  It is one of many alkaloids in Kratom that have been isolated and synthesized into a potent drug that some scientists are comparing to legal Morphine or opioids.  Such is that case with this wild west world of unregulated Kratom sales.  It appears to be a race to the top to see who can produce a kratom product more potent that their competitors.

This is why this industry need strict regulations, like, Leaf based products only, Maximum strength of the product, Age limit to of 21 years to purchased behind the counter or employee controlled on the counter,  No cartoonish packing to attract children and others that I will get into in other parts of this site.

The product that killed my son Dan was a concentrated kratom extract, much more powerful than leaf based Kratom.  A small jar the size of a 5 hr. Energy bottle containing 12 doses without usage instructions on the website and print so small on the bottle that made it unreadable.  My son bought two of these bottles two weeks before he was found dead in his apartment in Colorado.  That product is no longer sold..

The ultimate goal of this site is to help save lives in Dan’s memory, So no other Mother, father, brother or sister should ever have to endure the pain that Dan's loss has caused our family to endure...

Best,

Dave
